Rivalry Renewed

Two years ago, the University of Southern California Trojans marched into  Charlottesville, stormed Scott Stadium, and filed out single file after a 52-7  thumping of the Virginia Cavaliers.  As a UVA alum, I was downright  flabbergasted.  52-7?  It was an embarassment.  A debacle.  A travesty.  A  disgrace.  And other synonyms that express shame and patheticism.
In one of the biggest opportunities for UVA to prove their legitimacy, they  rolled over and sat idly by as their opponents came in and... (shudder)...  covered a 20-point spread.  I was disgusted, and worse, I was $10 poorer.   Losses I've grown to accept, but not covering is intolerable.   After that, I told myself  that I would never let UVA get my hopes up again.  I would never let UVA fool  me again.  And I would never let myself be seduced by the allure of winning $10  ...until the rematch.

As luck/the NCAA Football schedule would have it, the mediumly anticipated UVA -USC rematch is fast approaching this fall.  Previous wrongs will be righted,  vengeance wil be had, and most importantly, underdogs will cover large  hilarious 23+ point spreads resulting in ridiculous celebration and cashing $10  bets.
Unfortunately, it’s a long three months before the game kicks off.   So what to  do until then?  Obviously, start a site counting down to the big game.  A site  that not only goes over all the minutia related to this match up and these  teams, but also a site where you expect irrational and unreasonable enthusiasm  and excitement leading up to UVA’s assured redemption.  Sure we might not be  die-hard UVA fans that really… know things yet, but we’re certainly die-hard fans of covering spreads.  And when you really think about it, isn’t that just  as important?

No?

Well either way, let’s go UVA!  That rhymes and you know it rhymes.
